Jardins Scolaire

Jardin Scolaire fosters environmental stewardship and hands-on learning within Mauritania’s schools. By integrating tree planting and eco-awareness activities into the education system, the project sets a new standard for community engagement in Mauritania.

As a member of the Great Green Wall youth caravan, the project leader travelled to N’Djamena, Chad where he connected with school greening teams, bringing innovative ideas back to his community. This demonstrates the power of youth collaboration and exchange of knowledge across regions.

Awareness of limited funding led to the project leader joining forces with a friend to establish an NGO. This reflects an entrepreneurial spirit showcasing innovation by seeking sustainable sources of support to pursue ecological initiatives.

The team approached a local school to implement their vision, gaining approval from both the school director and the education inspectorate. Their endorsement emphasizes the project’s alignment with educational values and community goals.

Beyond tree planting, Jardin Scolaire goes further by incorporating educational workshops and litter clean-up activities within schools. This holistic approach enhances the physical environment and fosters a culture of responsibility and awareness among students.

Jardin Scolaire is more than just a tree-planting initiative; it is a model of innovation that intertwines environmental education with active community involvement. Its success can inspire similar projects in other regions, promoting an overall movement contributing to Great Green Wall objectives.
